Moving on...

So it's been a couple days without wifi again so finally catching up.  We walked from Granon to Villafranca.  Then decided it was a good time to catch a bus again since the way into Burgos is right by the busy highway.  A quick trip and we were in the city.  Burgos is a big city, both old and new.  We visited the cathedral there- another large and amazing space.  The ceiling is alabaster so it has a beautiful light inside and lots of stained glass.

We had planned to stay overnight in Burgos, but by the time we had toured the cathedral and had lunch it was just noon and the albergue didn't open til 1pm.  Being in the city is actually very tiring with all the noise and car fumes, etc.   So we decided to walk a bit and get out of the city.  We went about 10km to Tarajedos-- not a great place to stay but we were tired  and no other options.  Off at 7am today.  Now we are in the Meseta--a long stretch of wide open land, mostly fields of wheat and rye.   No trees for miles, which means no shade now that the sun is shining, very
few towns along the way, makes for a boring walk !    I think this goes on for about 8 days--may have to think about moving ahead again!
Saw a stork and its huge nest on top of a church today

  1. Lisa and Andy, Sooo glad you finally have some decent weather. The church looks beautiful. Unbelievable what people did back in the day. Taking a bus will give you more time to see neat things along the way. Might be worth it. Take care. Hey, we are having nice weather too. Planting beans. Yea!!! Love, Lisa
